Maryland - A Great Fall Getaway

Maryland's Cumberland Valley is one of the most popular mountain vacation spots in the east. The land there is beautiful and covered in lush deciduous forests. In the fall, the land comes alive with colors as the leaves change. There are also many lakes in the area that offer not only stunning reflections of the fall colors, but also excellent fishing opportunities.

Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort

This beautiful setting is a golf lover's dream perfectly completed by the amenities of the Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort. One of the most beautiful of the Maryland golf courses, the Rocky Gap Lodge is a superb golf getaway.

Location

The Lodge is set right on a stunning 243-acre lake. In the fall, the water reflects the colors of the changing trees and the peaceful setting is ideal for stress relief. The resort buildings blend right in with the colors of the surrounding area.

The Rocky Gap Lodge is set in the foothills of the Rocky Gap State Park. The park covers more than 3,000 acres and is centered around Lake Habeeb, which features boating and fishing. The park also has several hiking trails for guests.

Course

The Rocky Gap golf course is the only Jack Nicklaus signature course in the state. The 18 hole, par 72 course is challenging no matter what your level of ability. The first nine holes are in the wooded areas of the mountain, which provides interesting elevations. The back nine have rolling fairways and stunning views of the Evitt's Mountain and Lake Habeeb.

The course has five tee boxes at every hole, and features bent grass terrain. Nicklaus himself has never broken par when playing this course. Golf carts are equipped with GPS mapping technology. Mid-season rates for eighteen holes in the morning are $45 during the week and $55 on the weekend. Afternoon rates are $50 during the week. Afternoons during the weekend the course is only open to resort guests. During peak season, the weekday morning and afternoon rate is $65, and the weekend morning rate is $80. During the low season, the weekday morning price is $30, and the weekend morning price is $40.

This course is a good choice for Maryland golf lessons. Forty-five minutes of instruction costs $65, with discounts for larger groups. This Maryland golf club seeks to please!
