The Legacy in Phoenix, Beautiful Winter Golf for "Snowbirds"

Arizona golf is a popular recreation among America's "snowbirds," those retirees from the north who escape their cold climate for the warmer south each year. An Arizona golf package is one of the best ways to beat the cold northern winters. The Legacy Golf Resort, in Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the best places to experience what Arizona golf vacations have to offer.

Phoenix, Arizona as a Vacation Destination

Phoenix, Arizona, is a popular winter vacation destination. Phoenix golf in the summer would be unbearable-the highest temperatures on record come from Arizona, sometimes topping 120 degrees that has its impact even online estate agents! In the winter, however, the weather in Phoenix is mild, warm, and sunny. Like Florida, Phoenix is sometimes a yearly Mecca for golfers from northern, snowy climates. Even those who are not yet retired will often schedule a winter vacation at an Arizona golf resort. The air in Phoenix is dry and warm in the winter, yet not unbearably hot like it is in the summer. This makes it a popular Arizona golf destination in the winter.

Legacy Golf Resort

The Legacy Golf Resort, which is located in Phoenix, is one of the popular golf resorts for visitors from across the country. Located near Sky Harbor International Airport, the Legacy golf course is easy to reach, and offers all the amenities a vacationer could possibly want.
Accommodations
The resort itself offers guests 328 luxury suites to choose from when choosing their accommodations. The suites are housed in twelve buildings that are built in the Spanish mission style architecture. The balconies or patios overlook beautiful gardens that surround the estate. There are three room layouts to choose from. The studio suites have a king sized bed as well as a pull out sofa bed, a dining area and fully stocked kitchen area, and a washer and dryer combo unit. The one-bedroom condos have a separate bedroom and living area, with a Jacuzzi tub off the bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living area. Also equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, the one bedroom condo offers much convenience. Finally, the two-bedroom condo is created by an adjoining door between a studio suite and one bedroom condo. This setup is perfect for family or friends traveling together.
Golf Course
It is the Legacy golf course that draws most of the Legacy Golf Resort guests. This Arizona golf resort has a course designed by Gary Panks. This eighteen-hole championship golf course features native flora and a rolling landscape. The views of the Camelback Mountain, Phoenix skyline, and Squaw Peak are enhanced by the fact that the course is slightly elevated. The entire course is a par-71

The front nine of this course is a challenging start. Starting with hole number one, the accurate first drive is what is needed. The green has a bunker on the right side. Moving on to the par four second hole, you find perhaps the most difficult hole on the course, though deceptively so. There are no bunkers, and the hole is relatively straight, but you must have distance to do well on this hole, as it is quite large. Hole three is the shortest of the first holes, and has three bunkers protecting the green. The green on hole four rolls quite a bit, making it a challenging par three hole, even at only 190 yards. Accuracy is the key to hole five, with three bunkers next to the green. Hole six is a par five with a left dogleg, as well as challenging bunkers. Hole number seven has four bunkers surrounding the green and requires short iron at the tee. Hole eight is a par five hole with an out of bounds area to the right and several bunkers. Hole nine has several bunkers on the fairway, and one strategically located on the green.

Moving to the back nine, hole ten has a slight right dogleg, and is a par four. Hole eleven is short at only 180 yards, but has a greenside bunker and challenging contours. Hole twelve is the first time you will see water on your game. This par four challenges you to jump a large water hazard. Hole thirteen is a good place to try for a birdie, as it is generously labeled par four. The fourteenth hole is a par five which has an elevated green that has a large bunker and trees surrounding it, as well as a lake on its left hand side. Hole fifteen makes you hit the ball over a large water hazard in order to get to the green. Hole sixteen has several fairway and greenside bunkers. The par three seventeenth hole has the largest bunker of the entire course on its left. And finally, the course ends with the eighteenth hole, which demands accuracy when hitting the tee.

Current rates for the course are $49 before 1 pm, and $39 after 1 pm during the week, and $69 before 1 pm and $39 after 1 pm during the weekend. This is the price through October 15, 2006. The price will probably increase for the busy season, which is December through March. In 2005, the price during the week was $139 in the morning and $89 in the afternoon, and on the weekend $149 in the morning and $99 in the afternoon.
